Off the grid My neice asked me today why I have been off the grid - TopicsExpress

Off the grid My neice asked me today why I have been off the grid for so long. Didnt realize it had been that long, but must be if Tanith noticed it (private family joke). Anyway, I have been lacking in the posting department. So, it has been a busy last few weeks. I owe several thank yous and apologize for my lateness. In a separate post, there are several folks from the Home Depot I need to thank for installing a celing, fixing a light fixture and donating two area rugs to help make my basement a little more livable for my family. I also want to thank a dear friend for making the basement safe and healthy to use again. Really, a combination of dear friends and a new friend. Thank you to the Labedz family, (this one is very much overdue). I have been struggling with how to express my sincere thanks for all you have done, given and just plain been there for me throughout this ummmm, trip I am experiencing. I am not done with the thank yous, but had to get these two out! Update on me: Again, it has been just a crazy last few weeks. But, only good crazy. My wonderful family (who I adore) has moved in and frankly, allowed me to take a breath and relax. I couldnt be happier with the move and hope desperately they feel the same....(I think they do!). I made a little side trip to Seattle. Mainly to see my big sis, Carrie Zonneveld and my BFF Tammy Matzdorf Winquist, but I also visited the Seattle VA to see if I could meet anyone to see what the facility was like and maybe......well, see if there was a chance I could be re-considered for bone marrow transplant there. I am disappointed to say that I found out today, I have been denied for transplant from Seattle (officially). The reason I understand, the risk due to my vasculitis is not worth the benefit (to them) of transplant. But, the good news is, the VA has authorized a consult for an evaluation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC or Med Center). Which is one of the best hospitals in the country for blood cancer treatment, so honestly, Im pretty excited that I may be able to stay here. So, I have closed the door (medically) on Seattle and the window is open for staying right here at home. My blood levels are leveling out. If you can call it that. Good news is, the chemo is working and has brought my white blood cells WAAAAAY down, but the bad news is they have fallen so low, Im getting close to having no white blood cells and am now at great rist of infection or catching a cold so, now I dont have to go to the hospital as many times a week (now down to 2x a week, when not on Chemo), but I really cant go anywhere else! Trade one with the other. Either way, Im feeling pretty good, just feeling a little more tired these days, probably having my family here and taking care of me has added to that (in only the best way!). So, thats about it, Im sure Im forgetting something or someone (going to post about Seattle later). But thats the scoop. As always, I thank and appreciate everyone, when I think about the wonderful people and blessings I have, it gives me energy and resolve to power through. Love ya!
