Off to the Curragh where we run 4 today. Before I get into them I see a few of you are wondering how yesterdays debacle can happen. Well first and foremost it shouldnt happen. But as it did, here are the chain of events that made it happen. After Colin had spoken to my team and the press he headed as per normal to the weigh room. A trainer he was riding for later on got in his ear as to what he wanted him to do, before Colin knew it he had put his foot over the threshold of the jockeys room which is deemed illegal and hence he was disqualified. He held his hands up instantly and was obviously upset. He has apologised to me and more importantly to my owner and even offered to pay the owner the winning prize money (which was declined). It is and will be an expensive lesson for Colin as he misses the big Champions weekend but I doubt its a mistake he will make again in his career. The onus is on the jockey to weigh in but maybe with all the modern day distractions like media etc, a steward should escort the jockeys back to the scales to make sure this doesnt happen. Hes not the first to do it and while present practices prevail I doubt hell be the last. We all make mistakes and its how we deal with them that counts. As far as Im concerned its done and in the past and forgotten, we move on. We run two nice two year olds today for Qatar Racing and their new retained jockey Andrea Atzeni comes over to ride them. Sacrificial has been slow away on his two starts and Ive stepped him up to the mile to give him a chance in case hes slow away again. I think he will grow out of this habit and I dont want to make a big deal about it or it may become a problem. Hes obviously a decent colt as his form suggests, however Im told Aidans big gun is on show today in this race! Whatever my lad does at two will be a bonus as I think hell be a cracking 3yr old. Capella Sansevero is the colt to beat on ratings in the Round Tower and unless he runs well below his rating he should win. He seems very well and I would like a strong performance today to justify me going for the Middle Park Gr1 next. Burn the Boats takes a big step up in class compared to his last race. There have been precious few opportunities for him and I hope he can run well. He has always shown us plenty but he has his problems and is not easy to train. Angel of Joy is dropped in trip today as (a) its an open race and (b) I think he has enough pace to do so. Hes in good order and I need to put his last two runs to bed and try and get him back in the frame again. So it will be an informative day ahead and I hope we can make up for yesterday with a winner.
