Office Manager ACT Branch ACT ANF 2013 BIENNIAL CONFERENCE 18-19 JULY Dear Members ACTANF will be hosting their Biennial Conference 18—19 July 2013. This year’s Conference will be held at Hellenic Club Matilda Street Woden ACT 2606 Day 1—18 July 2013 Day 1 will consist of Guest Speakers, Round Table Conference and Resolutions for Federal Conference. Branch Councillors, Workplace Delegates & ACTANF Staff ONLY Day 2—19 July 2013 Day 2 will consist of a Political Panel (9:30—11:15am) Senator Kate Lundy, Mr Simon Sheik, Mr Zed Seselja Moderated by Walter Hawkins. Lawyer. Maurice Blackburn. September 14 promises to be a turning point in Australia’s political landscape. Whatever the outcome, come Election Day the people of Australia looks set to begin new chapter in our national story. But before that story can begin it is crucial to understand the characters of the tale and the issues they confront. Day 2 of the ACT ANF Biennial Conference sheds light on these curious and charismatic creatures and the political problems that push, pull and polarise them. Sparks will fly when Minister for Sport and Multicultural Affairs Kate Lundy (ALP), Simon Sheik (ACT Greens) and Zed Seselja(Canberra Liberals) go head to head in a political panel that promises to have people talking. These political rivals will take questions from the audience and discuss the issues that matter most to nurses and midwives in the ACT. President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, Ged Kearney, will continue the conversation with a discussion of the issues facing insecure workers. With greater uncertainty facing the nursing industry Ged will outline the importance of union membership and how solidarity can make a positive difference. The day promises to be an exciting and informative insight to what the future holds for nurses and midwives. All are welcome to come and discuss what the big issues are in the upcoming election and get to know the people driving them. So grab a seat, ask a question and have your voice heard in this important conversation.
