Office of Motor Vehicles Making Transactions More Efficient BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles recently completed an aggressive 40-day initiative to install more than 400 credit card stations statewide. In the past, OMV customers had been required to pay for transactions using cash or were required to schedule a return visit to finalize their transactions. The OMV anticipates that the addition of credit card machines will improve convenience for customers. We are pleased that we can now accept credit and debit cards at all of our Office of Motor Vehicle locations,” Colonel Mike Edmonson said. “This is a great way for us to better serve the public and make visits to our OMV locations more convenient. Accepting credit and debit cards as well as the utilization of the online services will greatly increase the speed and efficiency of the full range of OMV transactions. The Office of Motor Vehicles also encourages the public to take advantage of the on-line portal for many OMV transactions. The services are available via expresslane.org. The department estimates that nearly half of all on-line eligible transactions are being completed in person rather than through the internet. Some of the on-line services include: Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice of Vehicle Transfer Vehicle Statement of Non-Use Duplicate Vehicle Registration View Special Plates Order A Special Plate Order A Personalized Plate Notice of Lease Termination Salvage Yard Auto Hulk Insurance Salvage Retention Notification Tow/Storage Facility Junk Car Database Mobile Home Immobilization Status Inquiry Temporary Tags Drivers License Renewal Identification Card Renewal Official Driving Record The OMV express lane website is now more user friendly which makes it much easier for the public to make transactions online without having to come into an OMV office. With the ease of online transactions and the convenience of credit and debit card usage, the Office of Motor Vehicles anticipates faster and more efficient transactions for the motoring public. OMV would also like to remind the motoring public that when a driver’s license is renewed online, drivers will receive a brand new credential. Sticker renewals are a thing of the past and no longer issued in the state of Louisiana.
