Office of the Dean American Institute of Human Rights WHAT IS POWER and HOW DO WE OBTAIN POWER? I am a former Political Science Professor, and a Dean of Human Rights Institute and qualify as an expert of POLITICAL POWER and this is a gross OVERSTATEMENT and MISUNDERSTANDING of POWER. Congress has power,Judges have power, the Police Unions and the Police have POWER, the Prosecutors have POWER. We in the African American community as a COLLECTIVE must BUILD POWER..[ Our own insular Nation]. This is how we move out of their circles of their POWER into our own circle of Power. Al Sharpton is a Reformist in a Apartheid State that cannot be reformed so his ideas are POWERLESS.. I think we must look at SOUTH AFRICA to begin to understand AFRICAN Power, Apartheid States and our circumstance....and that 69% rating among us that you say you polled must be among Sharptons extended family, because most of us do not APPROVE of Al Sharpton as a POWERFUL figure in our community and certainly not a LEADER, as that concept is archaic and not really used in the African American community, and our Human Rights Lawyers and experts certainly disapprove of any type of government except a DEMOCRATIC one voted in by AFRICAN AMERICAN People pursuant to their own Areas, cities and Zones.
