Officer Darren Wilson will not be charged in the fatal August shooting of Michael Brown in #Ferguson, Mo. The grand jury making the decision said it found no probable cause to charge Wilson, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McColluch said in a Monday night press conference. Browns family released a statement following the decision expressing their reaction. We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequences of his actions, the statement said. The Brown family statement went on to request protesters remain peaceful in their demonstrations. Protesters had gathered in Ferguson in the hours before the announcement and reacted strongly to the grand jurys decision—including in minor clashes with police officers, though the protests were largely peaceful in the hours following the decision. President Obama, in a statement from the White House, called for peaceful demonstrations as well. Obama encouraged the public and law enforcement across the country to work together to address the issues raised by Browns death in Ferguson.
