Officers put their lives on the line to arrest burglar Three Greater Manchester Police officers were injured arresting a prolific offender as he tried to make his escape. Yet another example of the risks our members take to keep people safe. #joblikenoother One officer needed eight stitches to a deep knee wound after his efforts to stop the car of career criminal Dennis Smith as he tried to escape from a vicarage. Another was hurled up onto the windscreen then thrown out on to the road after the car hit a gatepost. He was not seriously hurt. The third officer was also thrown to the ground and suffered a minor foot injury. Sgt Phil Seeley said the officers put their lives on the line. He said: “I would like to praise the officers involved for their teamwork when apprehending this pair, all of whom demonstrated extreme bravery when detaining Smith while he attempted to drive off. They very much put their lives on the line in order to detain Smith who is a persistent and prolific offender, making the communities of Trafford far safer now he is behind bars.” Full story mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dennis-smith-jailed-burglar-breaks-3067737#.Uudy7RBFDrc
