Lawyer announces at-Large City Council bid Greensboro – Chris Lawyer, a local medical professional, announced today that he will seek an at-large seat on the Greensboro City Council in the 2013 election cycle. A Committee to Elect Chris Lawyer to the City Council is being formed. Lawyer plans to include supporters from across the city on that committee. Lawyer ran a close fourth in the at-Large City Council race in 2011, in which three City Council members were elected from a field of six candidates. “In my first outing as a City Council candidate, we worked hard and learned a lot of good lessons,” Lawyer said when announcing his candidacy. “I have continued to take a strong interest in local issues and to speak out when I thought I could make a difference.” Lawyer said his platform has not changed from the 2011 run. Greensboro needs to create jobs for its residents, Lawyer said. The best way to do that is through sound fiscal policies, strong public safety, and quality infrastructure. We cannot continue to say ‘No’ when opportunity knocks. We also need to find more and more creative ways to tap into the resources afforded us by our local colleges and universities. “This is a great city and I am optimistic that we can maximize our potential moving forward,” Lawyer said. “Once voters get to know me, I believe they will see that I will work hard to help the city achieve its great potential.”
