***Official Update*** - Kickstarter related So I decided not to shoot the video today because I realized that it could all be done on the same day as the zombie movie shoot coming up in a few weeks. I also did quite a bit of brainstorming on this and Ive decided that as I talk on the kickstarter, more and more zombies will start walking into frame until Im surrounded by our little herd. Thought that would be fun and easy. As for the kickstarter topic Im going to post the actual text of it below for you vultures to pick through :P Remain Calm is a survival horror role playing game set in the zombie apocalypse, but there are no heros here. Instead, you play as yourself with all your strengths and all of your weaknesses. [Insert paragraph about the mechanics here] - still writing this one To make this game a reality, we need your help. Our goal is to raise 6000$ to cover the cost of start up. If everyone in our community donated we could easily meet our goal and quickly launch our game. So how did we get started? Well, my name is J and I grew up gaming in the midwest united states. At 15 I was introduced to Vampire [the masquerade], ShadoRun and Dungeons & Dragons. I fell in love with the open-world feel of RPGs and quickly learned to run games myself. This creative outlet lead to a life-long love of creative writing, cinema and illustration; all of which were used to create Remain Calm. After 15 years of GMing I felt like I could do something better, especially with preconceptions of how games have to be played. It became my mission to build games that focus on ease of play, new player experience and modern technologies that will make RPGs more accessible to the player community. But again, I need your help. Get involved with our community by submitting content, help polish the system and fund this game. Its going to take a community to build the game but individuals to fund it. So while I know theres no perfect system, there are somethings that need to be addressed. Beyond minor annoyances that come with all games, there are problems that have always hindered RPG evolution. First, RPGs are tedious to learn for new players, sapping the fun out of their experience. This insures that a large percentage of potential players dont play again. Second, the amount of time it takes to create a character is a fun killer, especially before a player has even rolled their dice. Thirdly, book-based games are an expensive investment for the player to make on the good faith that they will get their moneys worth, Even more so when theres a revision to the game that makes their initial investment in the rule-book, redundant. This is why players pirate games, because we want to have fun without these interruptions.
