Official word from Wildlife & Fisheries on crabbing. You CANNOT crab legally on Elmers Island, only on Grand Isle Beach. This is still due to the BP oil spill. You only need a regular Salt Water fishing license to crab. Make sure you dont get greedy. All Pom Pom crabs will cost you a $500 fine. If you dare go out this weekend anywhere near Grand Isle, dont forget that it is Tarpon Rodeo Weekend. There will be traffic delays, weekend warriors, the 225s out, and lets not forget WL&F, State Police, GIPD, GIFD, and a host of other emergency services out there. Go at the break of dawn and get out by noon. All the party goers will still be sleeping....:)
