Officials at Iroquois Memorial Hospital have announced that temporary visitor restrictions have been imposed during the flu season. “Our highest priority is the health of our patients and their families, our staff and the community,” said Leslie Cottrell, IMH Nurse Lead. To help reduce the spread of flu, the following visitation restrictions are now in place: • Visitors under 18 years old are not allowed to visit any unit • A maximum of two individuals over the age of 18 are able to visit at any one time. • Visitors with symptoms of upper respiratory infection should refrain from visiting. If visits must occur for patient well-being, visitors with symptoms will be required to wear a mask. • Patients who are in isolation for flu treatment will be limited to receiving only those visitors who are essential for their emotional well-being and care. To help reduce the spread of the flu, Iroquois Memorial Hospital all IMH employees have received the flu vaccination. “Those employees who did get a flu shot will wear a mask while at work,” said Cottrell. In addition to getting a flu vaccination, individuals can also protect themselves and others against the flu through frequent hand washing.
