Often, Ive visited with Christians who WANT to help orphans and widows and the truly helpless... but the problems seem TOO BIG, and they just dont think they can do ANYTHING that will actually make a REAL difference! I want to encourage you, because God doesnt ask that we solve all the problems of the world. And its true that generally speaking, one person cant change the world (altho thats not necessarily true)... but ANYONE CAN change the life of ONE FAMILY. Anyone can do THAT. Choose ONE child to sponsor so they can have food, clothing, medical care and schooling, in a Christ-centered environment. That could be as little as only $25 per month, and with a bit of sacrifice, ANYONE can come up with that. Or choose ONE family to help by giving them food and rent money and prayer and encouragement in Christ, each month. Before you imagine that would cost too much for you, let me say that in some countries, thats only $100 per month! God doesnt want ANYONE to give out of obligation or religious pressure. That wouldnt line up with the heart of God. He wants us to give because we live a life that is KINGDOM focused, because we are OVERWHELMED with thanksgiving, because we recognize the GREATNESS of what He has given us, and because our HEART is filled with loving generosity (because we are JUST like our Dad). 1 Corinthians 13 says, no matter WHAT you do, if your motive is not SINCERE love, then you have done NOTHING of value.
