Often because the new husband thinks he must establish himself - TopicsExpress

Often because the new husband thinks he must establish himself as the “head of the house,” he harms their early marriage with “ruling”! Thus the man disregards the young wife’s feelings by “bossing” her around. He must always remember that God made her to be the “weaker” vessel. She had left everything to be with the man of her dreams when suddenly he has become this “cruel” potentate, instead of the wooing suitor of their pre-marriage days. Dwelling with a wife “according to knowledge” is a big assignment! The happiness and contentment of the marriage depends on that first year! A married couple should be “like-minded”—or as Peter puts it “of one mind.” The marriage license does not end “compassion” or “courteousness” for one another! (I Peter 3:8) Some married people treat strangers better than their own mates. A Christian couple should never forget they are “brothers and sisters” in Christ. They should not render evil for evil or be bitter or abusive toward one another. There should be no deceit or defrauding in a Christian marriage. If so, how can their prayers ever be answered?
