Often we forget about the struggle that has gotten us to where we - TopicsExpress

Often we forget about the struggle that has gotten us to where we are today. Its unfortunate because our history has clear messages of acts of resistance as an American people. Now, many of our struggles have turned into the blame game and dismissal of responsibility through bipartisan smoke screens rather than empowerment and intelligent politicization of the masses. This saddens me a great deal... we have forgotten how to be the change we wish to see somewhere along the line. Or, maybe we just got lazy with our #EntitlementEthics. Social theory tells us that with every privilege and entitlement we gain, a little bit of history is forgotten, locked away, and refused as part of memory--especially histories of struggle. If you arent planning on voting today and have the ability to vote, perhaps take a moment to think about the history of struggle that gave most Americans the right to vote. Because, not too long ago, most people in the United States did not have the right to vote. Lives were lost over your right to vote...if you didnt have that right, how important would having the right be to you? #ItsNotAboutLiberalsAndConservativesItsAboutBeingAmerican, #ExerciseYourRights, #RememberHistory, #BeTheChangeYouWishToSee, #VictoryGardenRevival youtu.be/2k57ARG7Kxg
