Often we mistake sympathy for experience. We sympathize with - TopicsExpress

Often we mistake sympathy for experience. We sympathize with someones plight and believe we are sharing that persons burden. This is not a biblical idea of burden bearing. Jesus shares our burdens; He experiences or intermingles in our sufferings. He is not just an observer or a sympathizer, He actually feels our pain and adds His Resurrection Life into the mix. Example: Jesus wept, but also, Jesus cried out in a loud voice: Lazarus come forth. (John 11:35 John 11:43) Jesus does not share our burdens in order to sympathize with us, our pain causes His power to come forth and OVERCOME our situation!
