Often when one thinks of farmers markets, one thinks of fresh, perishable produce. And our vendors certainly have a lot of that. However, our market is lucky to have a host of vendors whose goods are either easily-frozen or shelf-stable. So even though there are only two market days left before the end of the season, you can fill your freezer and pantry to the brim with enough market deliciousness to last well into the colder months! Here is a partial list, to get your wheels turning so you can stock up tomorrow and next Saturday: Aurora Springs Honey: Honey. Lots of honey! Keeps well on your pantry shelf. Baked Earth Dog Products: Dog treats keep for awhile, depending on how voracious your dog is. Bent Tree Coffee Roasters: Satisfy your need for good coffee by stocking up on Bent Trees whole-bean and ground coffee. You should also visit their shop in Kent during the off-season, when the mood strikes, as it often will. Bluebird Meadows: Their sausages, ground meats, ribs, chicken breasts, etc., freeze well. Goodell Family Farm, llc: Take home a jug or two of maple syrup to meet your pancake and waffle needs for the months ahead. Heartland Beefalo: Their array of beefalo products freeze well. Ohio City Pasta: The gnocchi and ravioli offerings are already frozen, and their fresh pastas can be frozen and stored to great effect. Ohio Valley Saw: Make sure your knives are sharp for a long winter of cooking! You can also bring garden implements to OVS to be sharpened before you store them away for the season. Robinson Lawn & Garden Center: Ornamental kale and mums perfect for fall decor, as well as garden statuary. Slovak Gourmet: Their yummy nut rolls can be frozen, and they also sell jarred peppers, preserved green beans, giardiniera, and other delicious things in mason jars. Sputtrz: Pretty much everything they churn with their antique engine freezes well: ice cream by the pint, salted and unsalted butters, even whole and milled grains and flours are well-kept in the freezer. Sunrise Farm: They have a gorgeous display of unique pumpkin and gourd varieties perfect for fall decor, carving, and/or eating. They also sell pickles. Taste Granola: Tastes loose granolas, bars, and wonderful chocolate-granola bark can definitely be stored and enjoyed. Tea, Herb & Milk Soaps - Natural Ingredients, Naturally Better: Stock up on soaps! Tea Hills Farms: Their range of delicious sausages and cuts of meat are frozen. And remember to order your Thanksgiving turkey from Tea Hills! The Olive Tap: Olive oil! The Pierogi Lady: Her extensive and quite tasty menu of pierogies are frozen. Fill your freezer, because heres a hint: pierogies are especially wonderful when its cold outside and you need some comfort food. *This list is not exhaustive, and our apologies if weve missed any items!
