Ogori and Magongo people can bear witness to what Im about to write here. Yes, even some Ebira people who are conversant with home. A long time ago, or not too long ago, depending on how you see 17 years ago, when anyone wanted to travel to any part of this country from Ogori or Magongo, they would have to wake up by 4 am to prepare to leave home for the park in Okene from where they would get vehicles to their destinations. For those going to Lagos, the route entailed going through Ihima to Akunu-Akoko down the long road to Ipele after Idoani before getting to Owo then proceeding to Ore en route.... It was torturous to say the least. Came Abacha and his Petroleum Trust Fund headed by none other than General Muhammadu Buhari. And a brand new road was constructed which included the Okene-Lagos Expressway which passed through Magongo, Akoko-Edo, Oka-Akoko, Akungba straight to Owo and Akure, Ilesa, Ife junction, Ibadan, to Lagos. What this means? Whenever I go see Owi by public transport and it is time to leave, all I do is go to Magongo at ANY TIME of the day and I get to Lagos in good time.
