Oh, Dear Lord! The afflicted raise their faces to heaven and cry, Peace! but there is no peace. Hallmark Channel is running Christmas in July movies. Christmas in July? Is nothing sacred? July should be Beach Bunny movies or a John Wayne marathon even but not Christmas. Good grief, its six months til Christmas. I have taken refuge in the den but I am being inundated, overwhelmed by waves of sentimentality. I am awash in treacle... near diabetic coma. Assaulted by plucky, determined young heroine who absolutely hates the male lead until he (or possibly she) realizes there is nothing like life in a small town mentored by a wise but gruff old grandfather, cheerful neighbors and... wait for it... Christmas Magic! Yes, gotta have Christmas Magic. Strong letter of protest to follow. Hallmark Channel will hear from me, I reckon. BTW, the movie still isnt over yet so I dont know if the guy will race frantically to an airport, bus station, train station or sea port to stop the girl from going to the big city.
