Oh God. The Show. It went SO Well. I had 23 people there from apparently the Science Fiction community. I am so fricking honored that the nerds of the world wanted to check out my show. I mean, ADHD is actually classified as a mental illness. Can you believe that? And Im over here thinking, Um, these symptoms are just describing some of the most amazing people I know. It was a hard night on my throat but I gave it everything I had. There were stories where I got to catch my breath, and stories that even took my own breath away. There were moments with my audience that were lovely, and ridiculous, and moments where they LITERALLY fell out of their seats. But to be able to get off the stage and go meet them in the lobby, and have one, quietly observing woman in a purple shawl, say to me, I know what youre saying about yourself, but I can also tell youre smart. You should be working for Hilary Clinton. Because we need a female in office. And we need smart women behind her. I was like, jawdrop. With sound effects. As the mingling died down, another patrons words, Keep telling the truth, pierced through my protective armor and into my heart. That was the spark I needed to know that I am indeed, finally on the right path. I do hope you will make some time for yourself and come have whatever experience you are dying for. For me, its been about dying for unconditional love. Its unconditional on the part of the giver, so how can the one receiving know what it is...? Geeta Mathur and Uday Mathur have watched me again, LITERALLY tear my hair out, to get myself through things. But theyve also constantly fostered the creativity, and it all just came tumbling out in this ... thing Ive created. Having ADHD has made it an absolute hell to get anything done and see anything through. Deana Barone showed up because I was finally ready. And thank you to Emily Violet Elizabeth for leaving the magical clutches of Ojai for an evening out on Ventura Blvd. Robert DAvanzo for all of the uncannily accurate pretend-fathering. And Grant Ball, for being with me after the theater goes dark. --- Keep up with the event here. ~An LA Times Noteworthy Pick~
