Oh. I admit it. At sunrise I did nothing except sit by the pond - TopicsExpress

Oh. I admit it. At sunrise I did nothing except sit by the pond and watch the sunrise. Beautiful it is. Only a few scattered clouds in the eastern sky, the leaves on the trees surrounding the pond are motionless, and the air is fall like crisp, clean, and fresh. How wonderful. Friday mornings at the farm give me time to relax a bit--no farm market until this afternoon in Merrifield. So I just watch the ducks and geese swim as I drink my egg coffee. The ducks are quacking, the geese honking, not far away the roosters at the chicken house are crowing, and overhead a single loon does its low fly over between the lakes that adjoin the farm. I admit my mind wonders just a bit as I mentally plan my day. There are raspberries to pick but the blueberries will take a few more days to fully ripen. The apples have a long way to go--way behind. The sunflowers also have a long ways to go--all the result of a very late spring. And I get behind as well. Today we will be planting fall crops--the crops that grow best in early spring or early fall. We will be planting some pea pods, cabbage, kohlrabi, and fall lettuce. An early frost could wipe out the crop, but there are times in life when you have to take a risk if you want to enjoy the benefits. I think ahead a bit on this morning. In another month my cancer treatment will come to an end. After months of chemo, then surgery, and radiation, it can’t come soon enough. I have held up well during the marathon battle with cancer, but to be free from daily trips to the hospital and to get my energy back and feel healthy--oh how great that would be. But the best part? In less than three weeks my grandsons will arrive from the east coast. They like pickles and so the refrigerator is already stuffed with refrigerated dills and beet pickles, but I want to make some sweet bread and butter pickles and a guest gave me a recipe for pickled kohlrabi--I got to try it. Oh yes. I am this morning? Filled with anticipation. Celebrating expectations before they arrive. In life, I think, a little of that is a good thing. Today, I hope you are filled with anticipation of good things to come. I do not know what today, let alone the future will bring. None of us do. But to enjoy this day and anticipate future good times? Today I hope you are doing just that. And if you are? Share with us if you will be so kind, what good things you are anticipating today, this week end, and in the coming days? Sharing the joys of life is good on this day and on every day.
