Oh I have something on my mind that Im biting my tongue on... and I dont think I can hold it so please excuse my rant for a moment. I hate to be anything less than positive on my page but Im upset for a friend of mine. I dont want to out anyone here.. but let me just say that I have a very talented vendor friend who lately has been very frustrated with many different shops outright and blatantly copying her designs. Im not talking about being inspired by... Im talking outright copying.. down to patterns, designs, stitch counts, etc. Heck, there are even vendors tagging her pics for other photogs to see.. as in hey I can make this and so on.... And the irony.... this friend of mine is the epitome of class and ethics.... she wouldnt dream of copying someone elses design and goes to lengths to make sure that her designs are her own, with her own spin. Ive seen her redo a design because another vendor came out with something similar even when she hadnt even known they were working on it. So, Im going to give these shops, many of whom are newer or smaller, the benefit of the doubt.... maybe you didnt know it was wrong, or frowned on, or unethical ... I know some of them follow this page too.... Dont do it okay? Any good knitter or crocheter can copy a design... it doesnt make you good or unique. Be yourself. Be original. Be different. Put your own spin or stamp on everything you do!!!! Being original is always better than being an imitation of someone else. It takes a while to become confident in your own work, and to find your own style but it is so worth it in the end! Trust me on this.... when people see your work in their newsfeed, you want them to recognize it as YOURS and not a copy of someone elses. To Thine Own Self Be True. Okay... Im done. Thanks for indulging me....
