Oh, Japan: Horrific Bar ~Thrilling night at the bar~ Hello readers its me again, the lovable Media mod you all know and love ;) Ella Serenity!! So after finding what I wanted to write about for my Oh Japan post this week I stumbled onto an interesting bar in Tokyo (and no I wasnt drunk and yes I wish I lived in Japan **sighs** now the depression of living in America really sets in lol) Anywhoo, how many of you would like to go into a SCARY bar. You know after a long hot day in the sun soaking up all the rays at the beach enjoying martinis at the beach side (sounds like heaven I know) Meanwhile Im just sitting here with some cheap wine-cooler, cause thats all I can basically afford lol. AH what I would give to be at a beach in Japan **sways side to side imagining being at a beach in Tokyo** Ahem!! sorry kinda got a little sidetrack there. You know how it is when your imagination takes over. **giggles like a school girl** Back on Topic, what would you do after the sun went down?? cause after all when the sun goes down that only means the night is just beginning right?? Would you go into a SCARY bar and hang out? Sit back having a few drinks while telling GOULISH ghost stories in an atmosphere with terrifying interior decorations?? If the answer is yes then I have great news for you!!! Located in Tokyo Japan is an establishment call the Kaidan Live Bar Thriller Night. Kaiden being the term for traditional Japanese ghost stories. The original branch of Thriller Night is in Sapporo, their Tokyo location can be found in Roppongi, the capitals center for nightlife. Upon entering the Bar, death as been considered the first thing that comes to mind. There was a giant skeleton protruding out into the basement hallway where the bars entrance is located. Once you pass the threshold you enter a small entryway, which doesnt seem to bad at that point. But there is a glass case, in the glass case is many severed heads awaiting for customers inside. There are also huge praying Mantiss carrying a severed head, that are seen on the ceiling and walls. Some of the other things that can been seen upon entering the bar is lockers filled with skulls, skeletons hanging from the ceiling, cobwebs scattered throughout this eerie place. Thriller Nights pricing system is a cover of 3,500 yen (US $34.70) which can get you all the drinks you can drink for 60 minutes, with one hour extensions available for another 2,000 yen ($19.28). Some would consider this a little pricy for an all you can drink deal, especially when the frightening wall-ceiling decorations are wanting to make you pee. Including in the fee are hourly performances by Thriller Nights residents Ghost story tellers. Inside the bar there is a sofa for everyone to settle in and get comfortable with the ghoulish decor AND even some friends that might be sitting on the sofa to keep you company, you know in case you go alone and need someone to talk to (Hey they wont judge). A counter where you can hang out and sip back a few drinks but watch out for the figure sitting alone at the bar, it might just bite you (just kidding...or am I??) When the story tellers start, all the interior light are turned off which make it hard to move around. If you need to go to the bathroom your better off going before the stories start. That is the advice of the manager in the bar to newcomers. Speaking of bathrooms upon entering the stall you can find them bathed in blood red light. But make sure you look around completely before you settle down to do your business cause you might just catch something behind the door that will literally scare the pee outta you AND thats just in the women s bathroom. Upon entering the mens room there is a similar surprise waiting for you daring and brave men. Want to know what it is?? OK you twisted my arm, Ill tell you A ghostlike reflection that shows up in the mirror. So if your planning to spiff up your hair or take a moment to make sure you look nice for your lady friend or ghoulish friend at the sofa (whatever floats your boat), best bring your own mirror lol. Once the Ghost stories start the lights go off and a video appears on the wall mounted screen asking everyone to remain quiet during the performance. The warning from what I heard seems to be more about personal conversations, but shrieks, screams and fits of terror are allowed. SO scream away if you dare!!! When the video ends a green spotlight illuminates the stage which is occupied by a Kaidan performer who is there to entertain the Thriller Nights guest. He starts off with a smile and gets a few chuckles from the audience then thing get a bit eerie from there turning the atmosphere in the bar from chuckling to punctuated gasps and screams. Sounds interesting dont you think?? Once the story teller is finished the lights come back on. Apparently from one of the storytellers that work in one of the bars, his perspective of having an actual ghost in the bar leads to prosperity. Wow you learn something everyday SOO my question for my readers is ...How many of you would dare walk into this bar? Would you feel scared or consider is as a place of comfort?? And for the prices do you think thats a bit much for all you can drink in 60 min or do you think that price is actually cheap?? As for me, if I was with someone then Ill probably venture in. You know as a female I gotta have someone to hold my hand lol. As for the drinking prices, considering the prices for just on drink here being between 7.00 up to 12.00 paying 34.70 is actually cheap, providing Im able to drink a lot in said hour lol Ta Ta for now and until next time ~Miss Elegent Serenity
