Oh USA. What are we becoming? We release terrorists from prison - TopicsExpress

Oh USA. What are we becoming? We release terrorists from prison who have assisted, and would assist again, in killing thousands of innocent Americans. We abandon our own at Benghazi and then brush the entire scandal under the rug and never hear of it again. We trade terrorists for a deserter, then hear nothing of his trial, but let a family rack up on legal fees trying to get their military son out of a Mexican prison after he mistakenly crossed the border (easy to do.) The country practically falls apart and goes into wild protesting over the shooting of an 18 year old who just robbed a convenient store, And then said mans convenient store is looted and nearly destroyed in memory of the young man. Then our leaders try to capitalize on an overall bad situation (for all involved) for political gain. We raise cain about how terrorists are interrogated while our very own American pastor Saeed has been in captivity in Iran being tortured for over 2 years for the terrible crime of being a Christian. And here we have a young man who signed up at 18 to defend our country, got a degree, and became an officer. Watch The Hornets Nest or any documentaries like it --- if you supposedly believe in empathizing with our enemies then you should also try to empathize with our own soldiers. Watch them tread lightly around on a dusty road trying to find nearly invisible wires to IEDs. Watch them find these wires running to the hut of a sweet looking old man who swears its a power source, only to keep investigating and find that indeed it was put there to blow them to pieces. This is DAILY. Multiple times daily. They often rely on children to tell them where an IED has been buried. Imagine it being normal to expect a car youre passing on the road to blow up. Then imagine yourself trying to know who to trust when your own buddies lives are in your hands and the enemy is never in the form of a soldier, but a civilian. Some men ride at you on a motorcycle, and with all of this in mind you have to decide whether they intend to blow you up or not, and you decide to fire. THIS guy is who we sentence to prison for 20 years for breaking the rules of engagement. How quickly everyone forgot his name. Where were all of the media interviews with *his* broken hearted parents? Where were the people lobbying for his freedom? It makes you wonder why someone would want to put their life in harms way for us. Now this. We find that the *Army* withheld information that the men he killed may have indeed had terrorist ties? It boggles the mind. We forget that war is ugly. We can do our best--and our troops DO their best--to protect innocent lives, but we cant tie their hands behind their backs this way. We cant expect them to protect us from terrorism, to react quickly and soundly in hostile situations and make judgement calls to keep their brothers in arms safe, but throw them in prison for a great portion of their lives if they make the wrong call. We are better than this. At the end of this article there is a petition you can sign for this man. Please do.
