Oh Yall, my trip to The Big Easy last weekend inspired me to share with you a real local home-grown, Louisiana blues guitarist, musician and singer. Tab Benoit (pronounced ben-wah) was born November 17, 1967 in Baton Rouge, and graduated from Vanderbilt Catholic High in Houma in 1985. He learned guitar playing as a teenager and appeared at the Blues Box and played alongside living blues legends like Tabby Thomas, Raful Neal, Henry Grey and other high-profile regulars at the club. He formed a trio in 1987 and began playing clubs in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He began touring the South in 1991 and today performs across the country. He began recording in 1992 and has produced many albums since. in 2007, Tab won his 1st B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award and was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2012, he won three separate Blues Music Awards: Contemporary Blues Male Artist, Contemporary Blues Album (for Medicine) and his 2nd B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award. He continues to tour and perform with other blues musicians. Enjoy his Bayou Sound Hit Like if you do and Share!
