My two closest Muslim friends are Sunni, the last two weddings I went to were of Sikh and Hindu friends, the last one I attended with two old friends Ive known for over 15 years (shock horror they are atheist!!) When I decided to wear my scarf they all encouraged me (and bought me A LOT of scarves and hijab pins). They know when its Muharram and when its Ramadan (and because Im open for discussion they know all the who/what/where and why too) they always buy halal meat if Im going round to eat. And they dont care that I drink shloer and not white wine. And really, if youre not comfortable and confident enough in your own beliefs to be able to mix in society with different kinds of people - without ramming your ideology down their throat - or being influenced by theirs - it is your fault not theirs. #letsjustgetoverourselves #thatsallfortoday
