Oh how they play with numbers to fit their version of reality. Its my guess that they arent including the unsolved murders in the numbers they are trying to pass off as reality. Here is the story, tell me what you think. CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department said the city has had the fewest number of murders in the first eight months of the year in over 50 years. Police said from January to August of 2014, there were 21 fewer murders than in 2013 and 101 fewer murders than the same time period in 2012. Thats the fewest number of murders since 1963. However, there were 68 more shooting incidents and 94 more shooting victims in the first eight months of this year compared to the same time period last year. Police also said overall crime is down 14 percent. CPD Superintendent Garry McCarthy is expected to address the new number at a press conference on Monday. McCarthy said in a statement that despite this sign of progress, he is still not satisfied with the numbers. He will continue to put more officers in high crime areas and implement the departments comprehensive crime-fighting strategy. But even with the best policing and strongest prevention in the world, McCarthy said, without better state and federal laws to keep guns off the streets and out of the hands of dangerous criminals well continue to face an uphill battle. Since the beginning of Labor Day weekend on Friday, three people are dead and 30 have been wounded across the city. In one incident, a 29-year-old man was shot to death and another man, also 29, was wounded in the 7400-block of North Ridge Avenue in Chicagos Rogers Park neighborhood on Sunday night. Police have not offered a motive in the case. A 15-year-old girl was shot early Sunday morning in the citys West Englewood neighborhood. Police said she was shot in the leg and is in stable condition.
