Oh man... Please help me out here. I need some insight from my Tejano Industry. Why do major Tejano Radio stations, Clubs, Venues support artists that dont claim to be Tejano... Artists like Aniceto Molina, Massore, Fito Olivares, Ramón Ayala, La Firma, Duelo, Palomo etc... Is it that without these bands, Tejano Radio/Venues would surely crumble all together??? I think my eyes are opening to new truths... I guess it all comes down to money As always... Take those artists out of the rotation and what happens to Tejano Radio/Venues. If those artists boycott Tejano radio/venues, what happens? I dont intend to upset the above bands, because Ive listened to their music for years. But when Real Tejano bands like Ram, Jay, David Lee, Ruben, try to get played on Mexican stations/venues do they get treated with the same respect as we give those non-Tejano bands? Ive been listening to Tejano stations from all over the country and none of them seem to have a problem spinning Non- Tejano Artists like the above named, but many stations are slow to add new Tejano artists to their playlists... Should I just accept those bands as Tejano? Or is this an if it aint broke dont fix it type of situation? The same thing goes for Djs that do cumbia Colombiana Mixes from artists Tejanos have never heard of for 45 min on a Tejano Station/Club! Enlighten and educate me somebody!
