Oh, my...Boy just scared a couple of years off my life...I had - TopicsExpress

Oh, my...Boy just scared a couple of years off my life...I had gone down earlier to check my mail and stop in to talk with David and Dad. Mom was at a meeting and so the garage door was left open at their house. After a while, I headed back up the hill. A huge thunderstorm was fixing to open up over top of us. The severe weather warnings were issued. I could see the heavy rain coming. The thunder was all low and grumbling. There were a few flashes of lightning. Boy had waited for me in our front yard under the dogwood tree. I picked him up and got him all settled inside our garage, thinking it would be better to lower the large garage door which he is use to going in and out of now, leaving the side door open a little. I thought he would be fine and avoid going out in the storm. I went inside the house and sat down to eat a bite. Then, the phone rang. Mom had returned home and noticed that Boy was in their garage! For who knows what reason, he somehow wandered all the way down the hill in the middle of a terrible, bad storm. How he managed that, no clue! Why...again, no idea! He must have gotten disoriented, perhaps scared. No way could he manage the stairs into our house to let me know he wanted in. Instead, he trekked a good long way to a safe haven he remembers well enough. So, I got in my car and drove down to fetch him. He was entirely soaked. I had every intention of checking on him in the garage once the storm ended...Oh, if I had gone out and he was gone! I would have been frantic! So, feeling really grateful that I have a smart, bravehearted little Boy, I toweled him dried, and now that the storm has pretty much passed, his adventure has tuckered him out. He is sleeping right next to me.
