Oh my God! I cried to the pit of my soul when I saw this beautiful and ever gracious video, as I have known all along what most of the world still doesnt understand. Thats the fact that the Philippines needs our help and the help of the entire world from every country, as good world citizens and caring ones who seek to raise up Gods providential goodness before the worlds eyes to all of suffering humanity, wherever we are able, but especially in the third world! There, they have not even a tiny FRACTION of the government, corporate, and private resources to cope with the effects of super-typhoon Haiyan which we know here in the eastern hemisphere as Typhoon Yolanda. One year after that devastating storm that was in fact WAY larger in breadth and FAR stronger a force than our own Hurricane Katrina in our southern United States millions are still displaced and living in tents, boxes, caves, tunnels, and everywhere they can double-up with anyone at all they know who will take them in. Countless people are STILL unemployed as their homes, businesses, and workplaces are all gone, and many are living a sopping wet life with no roofs still on so many homes all across the entire mid-section of their country. That doesnt even take into account other prior damage from Typhoon Fengshen/Frank 2008, Typhoon Ketsana/Ondoy 2009, Typhoon Nesat/Pedring 2011, Typhoon Bopha/Pablo 2012, and Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda 2013. That doesnt even count their recent Earthquake there that was centered in Bohol, the constant mudslides there, or the stunning percentage of their population that struggle with untreated Tuberculosis and many other maladies! I have helped this poor country extensively from my other decade-long ESL Tutoring Mission and now all from my personal pensions since I have no longer done tutoring this past year and it hasnt been easy. I have accomplish much and took the edge off for many distressed people that the Lord connected me to there... a Mission that continues now for 12 years straight while I have even consistently fed and helped 10 to 14 families a month from half a world away, CONSISTANTLY! I also have managed to buy and send new cooking utensils, stovetops, used sewing machines, and rehabable computers to rebuild, upgrade, and tweak to send there too! ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY! Its easy to help others if we JUST TRY, and the Lord will meet us in our efforts and multiply our resources as he shows us a better way to help and as he gives us the will to even INCREASE our giving! It is in that spirit of continuous giving that I encourage and challenge everyone to give also, YEAR ROUND and to MANY GOOD CAUSES HERE AND ABROAD! It may mean making your coffee at home and kissing Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts goodbye forever to be enabled to do it. Or give up a roll of wrapping paper here or there in our abundant collections. (Hi Kelli! :p ) It is my own belief that MOST Americans with even a humble job have more power than they EVER REALIZE, flowing through their fingers!
