Oh my! Just nothing like working on horse enclosures at night. For nearly three years the pass through gate has remained in mint condition. For some reason over the past two days, Rancher and Lance have decided to pick on one another over and through the fence. Tonight they choose the gate. Mind you, there is hot wire running the top of the no climb. Both horses were reaching through the gate and nipping each other. Lance would get mad and kick the gate with his front hooves. I saw a spark and heard a pop and both horses took off in opposite directions. Then the warning light signaled a short. They succeeded in breaking the hot wire handle and dropping the wire on the gate. The poor gate looks like its 20 years old, beat to heck. We had to add wire without a opening handle, straighten the gate, put it back on its hinges. Its a livestock gate so it did have welded wire. Operative word is did have... Now its got broken wire. Tomorrow it gets covered with plywood. Cant we have anything nice?
