Oh my Uganda that I love so... I have looked at you through rose colored glasses for these 13 years. My Sister Barbara Williams Emerson visited us here for 2 weeks earlier this month. She claimed that Uganda looked like Ghana 30 years ago during a severe depression.I told her that perhaps I didnt see things so negatively because if I did I may not have been able to have traveled her these 30 something times. Today I am feeling so sad and overwhelmed and I am really not liking this place. Uganda is a place where a young fathers life can tragically end and people rush to the scene, not to offer assistance, but to leave this dying man lying there and run off with his possessions. Really? Andrew was on his way to prepare for oral exams that he was to have taken on the day we ended up burying him. He was trying to further his education so that he could ensure the security of his family. He was traveling with Beatrices brand new laptop and whomever was the first person on the scene stole the laptop and his wallet.The night before I had finished uploading all of Faiths first pictures, all of Beatrices educational documents were saved on there, and I had recorded a video while holding Faith and reading her a story so that I could read to her even from the US. God, if I had only known as Andrew was ironing his shirt that he was to be the one going away I would have recorded him reading to her...God, if I had only known.
