Oh my goodness-I think I had a lightbulb moment with the crate - TopicsExpress

Oh my goodness-I think I had a lightbulb moment with the crate issue. Bartok (our V) is strongly attached to our Phoebe (morkie)- he is more attached to her than he is to us-if she goes to the groomer and he does not he whines and cries until she comes home, doesnt matter who in our family is home. Her crate is currently about 4 inches from his. I smeared yummy stuff on his crate and they BOTH went into his crate-which they were both able to move around comfortably and lick up the cheese. They then both looked at me in the closed crate like ok, now what?. This is when I looked at the two of them sitting happily in there and I swear the lightbulb clicked above my head. Experimenting I put a blanket over the crate and walked away. Five minutes of silence. Hes NEVER gone five minutes silent! Ive never been able to get him up that high! I think Phoebe is the key! So, the question is, it is safe for them to both be in the same crate? We can size up and get a size bigger but when I took the blanket off to let them out (I went down in five minutes, I was curious) ;) Phoebe was curled up in the space behind Bartok and he was RELAXED resting alongside her. Ive never seen him relaxed. Oh my. If it really has been as simple as having them together Im going to flip! Edit- I just pulled their crates directly next to each other and put the SAME blanket (its huge, for our queen bed) over both of them so hopefully they will feel close? I worked with turkey (which they have never had but um....they love!) and Bartok was sitting in his crate and would wait for me to tell him to come out in order to get that extra piece. Maybe this will be close enough- Phoebe is fluffy so her fur pokes through to his crate. LOL
