Oh my goodness. I went to check on the chickens this afternoon, as this is the first day they have been let out since they were moved to the new hen house, and the rooster was all bloodied up, and so was the rooster that has been hanging around for the last few days. I chased the one rooster across the road, then went in to call Darryl to see what to do. I had to get bloody rooster back into the coop, and in the crate where they lay their eggs now, but put the top back on so the hens cant get to him. They peck at red, and the blood is just a temptation for them. His foot is all bloodied as well, Im not sure he will pull through this one. And the other rooster doesnt belong to the new neighbor, I walked over to see. She has seen them across the road, which is a labor camp and pretty much deserted now. So our Tommy was protecting his turf. The other rooster must have flown over the fence, then back out. I cant believe I didnt hear any of the ruckus!
