Oh my goodness, this is Charlotte in profile, taking pride of place in Dollys window this week. The colour is so glorious....especially if you have a summer glow. Its a colour that equally favours brunettes and blondes. She does remind me of beloved Oscar and his de la Renter-ing. Dolly has beautiful silk vintage ball gowns on the brain; ones with pockets especially. I go to great length to restock Dollys favourite vintage signature gowns and Ive been successful in procuring Charlotte, sister to Primrose, Mercedes and twin of Erin. Shes an exquisite vintage shot silk blended shot taffeta ball gown that hails from New York city and she has a very LANVIN , Giambattista Valli Officiall, indeed an Oscar de la Renta feel about her. Patricia Fields and Carrie Bradshaw would both approve heartily. Shes a gorgeous periwinkle blue with pockets and the most delightful pintucked ruffles on the bodice with a train that adds just enough drama to make you belle of the ball. Theres a button to pin it up with should you like to dance or run barefoot down to the beach for a skinny dip of an evening..weve all done it. If you havent, ensure you do. Back to the ruffles... theyve been huge on the international runways over the last few seasons and theyre not just for the girlie girl. Theyve taken a turn toward modernism via structural silhouettes and minimal design. The result is divine pieces from designers like Chloé and DVF, and more structured couture pieces by Valentino and Lanvin. I wore her to my brothers wedding. So loved wearing her! She billows out with a slight train effect at the back. Charlottes a size 8 at the moment and of course we alter to fit as always. Shed make for a beautiful bridal or bridesmaid gown too.
