Oh-my-gosh! If people dont see things quite the same way, theres never cause for high emotions, ill feeling or nastiness. Life is too short for that. Mutual respect, humour and understanding go so much further than harsh judgements... I see it like this: If my difference of opinion is directly impacting someone elses access to a safe, happy life; if my ideas contribute to substantial inequity in anothers life - clearly I need to shift in my position somehow. Animal cruelty for example - suffering DOES result from the promotion of a positive opinion on endorsing fur. Other individual ideas however: likes, dislikes, non harmful spiritual ideas, musical tastes, suspicions of government corruption (who need to be open to questions by (and of) the public as they are there to serve the people) celebrity appreciations... They are quite frankly no one elses business to mock or unduly attack. Discuss, yes... Attack? Well, I suppose that depends on whether we want to be in a state of expansion or a state of contraction). We need to enjoy our human diversity when it is not causing harm. People get very silly sometimes to be offended with others and their right to their own opinions, ideas, understandings. We are all works in progress and none of us, NONE of us, have all the answers. In fact, rather than our opinions causing division, it would be better to listen and learn from a diverse range of perspectives on issues before measuring these finally with our own moral compass. It doesnt mean we cant love or care about the people who think differently, after all... They too are works in progress. Enjoy your day good people!
