Oh my gosh! What do I do? What do I do? We finally caught one of the baby mice in a sticky trap. He/she was just crying and crying, while Dutchess poked at him/her. I grabbed the trap and quickly rushed the little darling to the outside sink, where he/she would be safe from the dogs. But, now I dont know what to do. I ran inside to see if my grandpa was awake, but he wasnt. I went back to the crying mouse (okay, really a rat, I think); he/she was breathing so heavily, trying with all he/she had to get free. His/her tail and back legs were stuck in the goo. I thought, do I try to pull him/her out? Will he/she bite me? Will I pull off his/her back legs? What to do!!! Okay, read the box, and you know what it said!!!!! When the rat is caught in the trap, cover it in newspaper, push it into the dust pan and throw it in the trash! This soul is alive and terrified!!!!! What the crap! Im a firm believer in catch and release, even if it comes back to bite me in the butt. But, this trap doesnt seem to be release friendly. So, I run back up to my grandpa and gentle nudge him, but nothing, he just continues to breathe heavily. Oh, what do I do!!!! I cried; I told him/her Im sorry. I put him/her in a box and surround him/her with newspaper, in the hopes that he/she would be able to keep warm during this cold night. And, should he/she still be with us in the morning, I will scream, HELP! How do we release!!!!????!!!!!???? I will never get to sleep knowing he/she is scared and suffering. Why wont anyone wake up! Oh, the cries, my heart just cant take it. Please Lord, if this little one isnt going to make it, take him/her quickly and in peace. Im sorry little one. I didnt know you wouldnt be able to get out; I didnt know they just expected to throw you away in the garbage. I wish I knew the safest way to save you, or if saving you is even possible. Is it more human, to set your spirit free??? I dont know......
