Oh my great goodness!!!! What an absolutely amazing and incredible day!!! I am over whelmed with so much joy and gratitude. Among many, many other great experiences, people were coming up to me all day and commenting about what a great connection I had with Mocha! Can you even imagine how deeply that touched me?!? I know that many of you can. Thats been my greatest desire; the relationship and the connection! And then this evening after the opening ceremonies many of us went up to the cantina to visit and chat. Rich and I had a chance to visit with Leslie Nichols (the Liberty judge that I did the work shop with). She shared that lots of people approached her after the workshop and told her how blown away they were with what Mocha and I shared. I wish you could have seen Mocha then. She was on fire and loving it! She was galloping to me and having so much fun! Folks told Leslie that they had no idea that Liberty could be like that! What a rush!!! Leslie, (and Hutch) thank you for that opportunity. I feel so very blessed! And gosh... Theres so much more. Tonight was over the top... I had the very best ride that Ive had on Mocha to date. And guess what we did! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! No agenda at all. We just walked around. This was during the time prior to the opening ceremonies. The other competitors were loping or trotting around warming up. Mocha was so incredibly relaxed. Nothing bothered her. She was even doing that really soft exhale as she walked around. Again I was overwhelmed and tearful with such joy. And then.... We all went into the arena where our staging area was and were able to ride around and watch the acts. That was cool. The atmosphere was upbeat; the loud music pumped her up a bit. But the really funny part was when the Native American dancers came out in costume with drums. Many of the horses freaked at that. Mochas head was up and her eyes were bulging as she watched. She needed to leave when they got too close though. What was cool was after she stood back and watched a few moments she decided of her own accord to take a closer look and she boldly walked right up to the fence. I was really proud of her! For the actual presentation of the competitors I did lead her instead of riding her. (Ive trotted so much today that Ill be sore for a week!). I am very pleased with my choice. Mocha was a bit nervous but I could tell she was comforted with my being down there with her. Rich is telling me I should get some sleep, but first... I was able to ride her in the open arena once everything was over. She had a chance to go meet the spectators that were still along the wall. She reached up (way up) and touch her nose to a precious little girls hand. It was so special and the little girl was mesmerized. The evenings ride ended with a relaxed walk the half mile back to the barn in the dark with the other competitors. I will try to sleep now. What a glorious experience and I thank God for every moment.
