Oh please, the republicans are in it for the cheap labor. Thats why they dont want to see anything happen on immigration reform. People here illegally are essentially slaves: Pay them when and whatever suits you. They have no recourse to such niceties as minimum wage or labor boards or occupational safety standards or benefits of any sort. Why do we continue this charade that thats not what this is all about and listen to the right try to distract from this truth with talk about national security etc? Their lobbyists are quite happy with these millions of terrified workers with no access to even the most minimal laws protecting people in the labor force. Obama just hit them where it really hurts, in the (cheap labor) pocketbook. Thats why theyre so up in arms about this.
