Oh, the drama! We just love the way our local newspaper keeps spinning this...pointing fingers at the prosecutor, then our representative on the Ways and Means Committee. Its a joke. Guess whos job it is to keep taxpayer money safe while entrusted at the university? The Ball State Board of Trustees. Guess who wont hold the Board accountable? Our local newspaper. Everyone in Indiana who pays taxes should be asking why The StarPress wont hold the Board of Trustees accountable for the loss of the $13.1 million, the cover-up, and their refusal to answer why they continued paying out bonuses after they learned of the investment loss. Were not overlooking that someone at BSU hired an inexperienced investment manager, who wired $8.5 million in cash to a fancy talking West African whose investment firm was named, Betts and Gambles (No Joke), but after the money went missing for 2 years, youd think an auditor would have missed the money. Nobody knew the money was missing. Monies wired out by one person and then somehow falsified by the same person. Checks and balances, anyone? Our local prosecutor and democrat Terry Gooden are being used as a smokescreen for the real issues: 1) Why didnt BSU detect the missing money; 2) Who told the Ball State Board that this investment loss wouldnt be publicized?; and 3) Why did the Board of Trustees continue paying out bonuses to a staff who was derelict in their duties? One other note, are we the only ones who perceive hiring Debbie Daniels (sister of former Gov. Mitch Daniels) as a conflict of interest? Since Mitch was ultimately responsible for Ball State during his tenure as governor, why would you hire his sister to investigate such a sensitive matter?
