Oh what a Christmas. 2nd day of winter update on our sweet - TopicsExpress

Oh what a Christmas. 2nd day of winter update on our sweet Deonna Keiser. She has now been gone over 6 weeks and we are more than ready for her to come home. She had a great weekend. Most of the debilitating pain that she was in from her heart surgery has subsided and is now just another bad memory. Being more or less pain free the last couple of days has allowed her to make some significant progress in her physical therapy sessions. I now firmly believe that at some point in the future she will be near 100% and walking just fine. Her right hand and arm are starting to move fairly well, even her fingers. Her communication skills are even starting to show some signs of improvement. She now says hi and bye. She has really started to chatter nonsensically a lot. It is kind of cute and frustrating all at the same time. I know this will be the biggest challenge for the girls and I once she is back home with us. I have tried to mentally prepare the girls for dealing with the frustration and anger that will surely come with Mom not being able to communicate what she wants/needs. It will be all about patience and understanding around this house. Not bad goals under any circumstances. Wish us luck. It looks like she will get her first pass to come home on Christmas Eve and then if all goes well hopefully again on Christmas Day. I cannot wait to see her reaction upon coming home for the first time. I have already started to big baby proof the house. I do not want her to be able to pull anything down on herself or trip over throw rugs etc. It will make this Christmas a memorable one to say the least. We are lucky just to have her. She avoided the ticking time bomb in her chest but got knocked down by its removal. Now it is time to pick herself back up, brush off all of cobwebs that are clouding her mind and start kicking life in the ass.
