Oh wow, I did not expect to see some a strong reaction to the pic I posted of us with John Key. Having read ALL of the comments now I feel quite upset. The T-shirt was a joke mocking David Cunliffe, we did not think past that any further. But for those of you who relate it to violence against women, I want to apologise wholeheartedly. That was definitely not the intention and neither we, nor John Key, condone violence against women - or anyone for that matter. As you may know, I too have come from a childhood of domestic abuse (I wrote about it in my book Misconception & you can read a chapter about that for free here: https://facebook/notes/jay-jay-harvey/misconception-the-first-chapter/828604083835530), it was horrific, frightening, soul destroying, emotionally scarring and life changing. I have stayed in Womens Refuge Safe Houses too (and the people there were amazing). I am appalled that violence against women and children still exists when we all know how unacceptable it is. So I am terrible sorry if the photo brought up unsettling feelings. Obviously we did not want that to happen. I donated $500 to Womens refuge just last month.
