Oh wow! The Coca-Cola commercial from the Super bowl is causing quite the controversy....Heres how I see it...It you had a problem with it then maybe you shouldnt speak English either...Funny thing is that when you look at the ENGLISH language it is not a pure language. So while you say, Aguamarine (latin), Chauffuer (French), Cola (West African)...oh wait dont say Cola...its not English... Blink (Old Dutch), Blister (Scandinavian) and heaven forbid dont say Ketchup (Cantonese)...So if you had a problem with the video the percentage of modern English words derived from each language group are as follows: Latin (including words used only in scientific / medical / legal contexts): ~29% French: ~29% Germanic: ~26% Others: ~16% The American Language is not a pure language solely unique to America. It is a melting pot of languages just as the people groups.
