Oh you: woman who verbally accused me of being uncool yesterday 1/2 hour BEFORE we were even set to begin playing music (so technically I was playing for free) you big, black, bulging voiced, Medea! I had been playing a mixture of music, for my own enjoyment, that ranged from many genres. None of it, (No Doubt and Oingo Boingo included, I suppose) was cool. You stated that I did not know the demographic. offering up advice like I was some knob twister hick who didnt know who Demi Lovato or Taylor Swift was. (for the record I adore Taylor Swift and I am unashamed) Well, Ms. Super Special, seemingly YOU didnt know the demographic. Even from the tweens I got very little requests for Top 40. A ten year old Japanese boy asked for Imagine Dragons, but also Cold Play and Skrillex! A hard rocking tween girl asked for Nirvana, Guns N Roses, White Stripes and Red Hot Chili Peppers. A pair of tweens asked for Panic At The Disco! A little girl (!) asked for Highway To Hell! A Mexican man asked for Another Brick In The Wall! We also had requests for Dan Fogelberg, (!) Steve MIller, The Beatles, 60s music, Depeche Mode, The Doors (for Pablo,) and many more. I DID play a lot of Top 40, and of course we got requests for Salsa, Bachata and other Latin music, as well as predictable requests for LET IT GO and HAPPY, but overall there was not one genre anyone favored. The demographic was off the rails Miss Thang, and MY clients, the ones who hired me, were all very happy with me. One of them asked for a Gipsy Kings Hits remix. (Oh, but you probably thought that was uncool too...)
