Ohh My Gosh - - This happened today. .!!. ..The Identity Thieves have gotten ahold of me at last and were about to rid me of all my cash - - And then guess what happened? Visa found out that a big block of names and numbers were compromised and they took time out of their day to notify all the banking and lending institutions holding the numbers to all those debit and credit cards that their clients were in jeopardy. My bank called me this morning and told me they were (actually they already had ) closing my debit card and that they would issue me a new card and it would arrive in less than two weeks. Am I grateful to my bank for being on the ball? Yes. The Bank that called me is a Utah bank called Cache Valley Bank. Years ago I started distributing my personal funds between several Banks and credit unions. I now use two banks and two credit unions, and if I get robbed - I have back-up $$ to tide me over. I got rid of the banks that charge service charges and I am very happy with the services and convenience I get now. I got rid of the stagecoach and the ancient Utah bank cause they treated me with a smile while they removed my cash. Bummer. So if you happen to get trapped in a scheme remember me telling you - all your eggs in one basket is not necessarily a good thing. Spread it around ahead of time. One back up is all you need.
