Ohhh. We already have to pull our own IV and respiratory stuff to trash, make sure patient labels are all removed and placed in secure bins, in addition to patient care, and their personal care, I&O, safety, medication administration, lab interpretation, patient advocacy, charting and medical record accuracy, liaison between patient and physician and all other departments, waitress, patient discharge escort,keep up with hospital policies, emergency procedures, continued education, respond to emergencies- did I say charting an accurate medical record? Be a comforter, caregiver, listening ear, encourager, manager- be a nurse. Less help, more responsibility. We must have broad shoulders. We must advocate for safe and quality patient care first and foremost.
