Ohhh yess, investments with tax holidays/ incentives to foreign investors is colonialism in a new format and we must say no. The Africa Regional Integration conference has just opened in Johannesburg with a call for the review of investment laws. South Africa Finance Minister has called all the Africa Union member states to emulate the South African government. A bill is currently before parliament to revise and re-write investment code. He further said that most investment codes and laws were written to benefit the investor and not the nation. The new laws should safeguard both the investor and the host country, this is the only way Africa will get a return on the investment flowing to the continent.
