Oju ni o kan omo ole ti o nda ajo A thief’s impatience leads him/her to join members of a cooperative whose goal is to pool resources together and take turns sharing the proceeds. He is likely to break the safe and steal the funds anyways ..... So the question is why bother joining in the first instance. Fast track to Lagos State, Nigeria: The Lagos State government in its bid for good governance and accountability contracted the construction of a major road to a private company whose mission was to construct the road and in turn impose a levy on users for a number of years. The idea was never popular at the time but the government insisted it was in the best interest of the people and the State. Five years after and with Billions of Naira already collected by the company contracted by the govt. to oversee the project, we are being told that the Lagos State govt. now wants to buy back the concession right at a price tag of N25.3 billion. We are made to believe that this is being done in the interest of the state and the people. Why would a govt. expend such an astronomical amount on a project that is already completed? The amount to be expended can be put to better use by funding other projects. Someone is not being forthright with the people here. The reality of the matter, the folks that came up with the idea can no longer wait for the number of years to lapse to collect their loot. Another King might emerge in the future and then begin to ask questions. This is the reason why advance countries frown against conflict of interest. It is impossible to be in servitude of the people and at the same time be the chairman of the companies that does business with the state that you are CEO of …… whose interest are you going to serve…. Yours or the people you are pretending to serve. Something is not adding up with this proposal…. Oluwa lo ma da ejo a fi eyin pin eran. It is heart wrenching watching these politicians take us for fools. Otiti oro bi isokuso ni Nigeria on my mind …… Always.
