Ok. A little exposition may be in order. Lol. Although this was quick, it really wasnt sudden. There was NOTHING bad that happened in Wayne or career wise or anything. On the contrary, I loved working there and esp all the people in and around the Wayne Courthouse. And I actually liked my job, yes, even after all these years. The Public Defender Office is full of great people doing work that must be done if we are to claim that our system is legitimate, and I am proud of the work I and we all did, in both Cabell and Wayne Counties. So the change had little to do with the job I had or frankly, the job I now have, although I am having a blast learning the ins and outs of being the Man as opposed to taking on the Man. (What would Jason Fry do??-thats almost a bracelet!) Trust me, It is a change ! But it was more about an oppurtunity for a new start, a new chapter if you will. Its no secret the past two years have been rough on me. Starting over as a single divorced guy was NOT something I had planned for or wanted, and I am still adjusting. And it was honestly harder to adjust in the same surroundings and in the same place that I lived as a happily (I thought) married guy for over 15 years. In so many ways, Huntington belonged to Darren and Nan. single Darren didnt fit in any more-too many memories. So this oppurtunity came along at the right time, And I decided to jump on. So there you go. However, my family, my kids, my beautiful precious new lady, Amy McNeil and a lot of dear friends are in Huntington, so expect to see a lot of me. Ill be in the process of moving from Huntington to Webster Springs throughout the month of December, and then I will be in Huntington at LEAST two or three weekends a month, so dont expect me to be gone forever! And Donny Plumley, first lunch back in town is at Nawib!! Ill have the same phone, the same email, and the same facebook, so see everyone soon!
