Ok Butte and Montana friends. Ive been thinking. As many of you know, our friends at Headframes Spirits are proposing a very large business venture using the Kelly Mine Yard to build the largest distillery this side of the Mississippi. I think this is a great idea. Its definitely a great way to create jobs in our hometown and a great way to bring tourist to our Butte-ful city. I dont think we should stop there. Back in 2010 Steve Gallus proposed using some of the settlement money from the Natural Resource Damage Fund to build a new Montana Historical Museum here in Butte. I think we need to make another push to bring this wonderful museum to Butte. I want to point out that we are now in 2014 and Helena still hasnt been able to muster the funding and support in their decades long effort to build the new museum in Helena. I think we could utilize the Lexington Mine Yard on North Main Street for this project. We would be using the funds to clean up and restore an old mining site and giving new life to all the artifacts currently hidden in the dark cramped basement of the museum in Helena. In addition to creating construction jobs for this project we would be bringing 80 new permanent jobs to our great city. I hope you like my idea.
