Ok, Endurance Gurus, I have a question. Green Bean here, to boot. I rode in a BM original barrel style saddle on Sunday. It did have a horn and a terribly high pommel. Not a choice I would purchase but I wanted to try it. Dug into my legs, the horn kept poking me in the belly. I havent ridden with a horn in a million years.. Figured the seat was too small and I do like a bigger seat than usual. I ride in an Abetta hornless, 15 inch now. The following are things that were brought up in conversation after the ride. How does it support or distribute my weight, PSI, and not have my horse bearing all that weight in the middle of his spine? What type of padding do yall use. He was dry through and through under the pad we used. I am assuming that is a good sign. There was a coat ruffle above where my knee is to mid thigh. I ride with a loose cinch and assumed it was the very steep hill we went down. Thats when the pommel got me. Do all the BMs have a tall pommel? Do you ride in a smaller seat because it is treeless? The stirrups seemed set back a bit for my liking. I found my self sitting differently and was pleasantly surprised by being a bit sore. I really did enjoy the feel. I could feel every muscle movement from my horse. And the added benefit of the warmth from his body kept my Hiney warm, since it was raining, and I wasnt wearing my chaps. I am sure I will have more questions, after I hear some of your responses. Thank you for listening to my GB questions.
